Monkeys had Fun! August- (ORG)

Hello everyone, We are back again with our monthly Reading Group!

This August, we started with Monkeys.

Here you can see we use 2 books.

Both books do talk about monkeys and what they do.

So I incorporated Actions words.

It was pretty fun as the children could act and play with the words.

After reading the book, we do some bouncing using the Bouncy ball.

All children take turns and had fun. So you can see they learn the word Bounce!

Next we did some craftwork. We let the children do cut and paste.

They were to make a monkey face!

Easy job for kids ages 3-5.

They cut it and paste it all by themselves.

Don't you just love our monkeys!

We are going to hang this in our bedroom!

Lastly before we end the session, we did a monkey dance!

 

Here you go,

First scratch your tummy, then lift up your chest,

then scratch your chin, after that lift your hands and reach up to the sky.

Do a silly walk, and pose!

Now wave goodbye and spread your wings up to the sky!

Xmas Party - December (ORG)

Ho Ho Ho, It's Christmas again!

We are so excited this time

as we have lots to do!

First we read a story about Santa having a New Jet!

It was interesting as this book does relate

to our modern world, in my opinion it is

suitable to both gender; although we have

an all girls reading group here!

After the story-telling session,

we continue with our Christmas Cooking activity.

Oh don't forget to wash hands first!

Here, showing the children some

ingredients and let them taste and smell some of it.

We are making Christmas Squares! Easy and neat.

We are doing it all by ourselves.

Some make it round too, using the moulds.

I know all mommies been waiting patiently for the recipe...

I hope you all can try it at home with your child too.

It is easy and most of all, no mess at all.

Best of all it is yummy!

 

Christmas Squares

1/2 cup oats

1 tbsp. sesame seeds

2 tbsp. mini marshmallows

2 tbsp. cranberries

4 tbsp. Honey

2 tbsp. Sunflower oil

Tiny bit of vanilla essence

 

Preheat Oven to 160 degrees.

Line baking sheet with baking paper.

Mix dry ingredients all together.

Then add honey, oil, vanilla essence.

Use spoon pour on the baking sheet and tap it thin and flat.

Bake for about 20 minutes, and let it cool for 10 minutes.

When it is cool, it should be able to break it into small pieces;

and keep it in an air tight container.

Viola!

Ok I forgot to take pictures of the

other squares as they were quickly

being eaten or put into the container. LOL.

Next, we have the kids do lots of things for this

mini picture that they can hang on their wall.

Stencilling, tracing, drawing, colouring, cutting and paste!

Last but not least, this time, they have to write the

Merry Christmas wording and put down their names!

After all the activity, exchanging presents time!

The stockings were full now with little presents and sweets.

Hermit Crab ~ November (ORG)

It's the month of November again! Time just flies!

We are back again this time with Eric Carle book!

We just love his books, don't we?

The children just love those stories. Lots of questions ask and answered!  

 

Now we had to do some art with it!

We are making handprints and

drawing a hermit crab should not be as hard!

Children just love doing arts!

Well, we had our lovely November Baby celebrating her birthday!

Our children just love parties and presents!

We had a mini baby shower for

our 2 lovely mommies,

both are due real real soon!

A boy and A girl coming in soon!!

4th Penang International Kids Storytelling Festival 2013

October is Penang International Kids Storytelling Festival! (PINKS)

So ORG has decided to participate in their storytelling activity.

We actually went to listen to Roger Jenkins!

 

 

 ROGER JENKINS (UK) who won the Best Storyteller award at the 16th Kanoon International Storytelling Festival in Iran in Feb 2013. He is a popular performer and trainer in schools, libraries an...d community events. Thanks to his spontaneous, comedic, and often participatory style of telling. In 2012, he published a teacher's resource book for moral education in two volumes (Juniors and Teens) and has just released The Parent’s DVD Guide to Storytelling. 

The storytelling was interesting, Mr. Roger uses different techniques and props and tools.

Our little children was excited and a got a little tired at the end as the session was quite long for them.

Overall it was a good experience!

September Ballerinas - (ORG)

It's (ORG)September Reading again, and this time

the theme is:

Ballerina

Who does not love ballerinas?

Especially young little girls,

they just have to dress up like one too!

We start off with a book about a Ballerina

who loves to dance and tries to be perfect.

The Title is:

The Not So Perfect Ballerina

Written by: Nicola Baxter

Illustrated by: Pauline Siewert 

After the story telling sessions,

we started to do some simple stretching.

Just a warm up for them, and to

learn a little about ballerina stretching exercises.

 

Well by the end of the story, we ask the children to pose like a ballerina.

We also did teach them the Plié and 5 basic ballet positions.

See how lovely they are!

Here you can see that they are happily practising their skills.

Tip toeing, jumping, bending their knees, etc.

They are having so much fun!

Now the little ones do the final pose of a ballerina.

Lift one foot up and gracefully put your hands out to balance.

The Arabesque! Of course they all need a little help there.

I guess this was an introductory of ballet to all the kids.

Also, here only Little Tiff started formal ballet class

compare to all, and she did help

to show the other kids what it takes to be a ballerina.

Good job to all, hope you all learn to ballet now.

Oh yes, We are celebrating the September Kids birthday!

Pizza Time in August ~ (ORG)

In August, Our Reading Group decide to have a

Pizza Making session.

We are teaching the children how to read a recipe.

All the children are getting just a little too excited!

They could not wait for it to begin. 

Here we are giving out the recipe sheet and teach them how to read it.

Also here, introducing them the ingredients and smelling it too!

 

The kids start by spreading the tomato paste on top of the dough.

Here we have them spread the ham on top of the pizza.

Just love to see how they spread  the ingredients;

which they call it decorate their pizza.

Also one just have to try the ingredients too right?

See how I spread the cheese on top.

That's a lot of cheese though.

 

I love my pizza and see how I do it.

Lots of cheese eh, that's how I like it!

 

Ready for the oven.

We are going to get it baked!

Mannerism July ~(ORG)

July is here again!

This time we have Mannerism for our reading group theme.

Potty manners are important to little children,

here we have a whole book about potty manners.

It is a very good book with pictures and

all the manners children should know.

Here is the book that we read that day!

After reading the book we let the children remind themselves

about what to do when they need to go.

It was pretty interesting that they manage to

remember the manners.

After that we played the manners card game.

A situation will be given and the children

need to answer what word they should use.

It is more like a Q&A session.

 

After that we remind the children about some table manners.

It is all about eating manners and etiquettes.

Farm Animals in June ~ (ORG)

For the month of June, we gather again in this reading group for the theme:

FARM ANIMALS

Thanks to our story teller Ms.Fong.

As usual, we start off with story telling. Here our little children

practice interactive listening;

which is asking questions and learning what the story is about,

in the meantime, the children have to responds to all the questions asked.

Our reader did a good job in posing and answering all the questions.



Next we have some colouring going and

the children learn to identify the different farm animals.

 

Here we are having the Q&A sessions.

We ask the children some simple questions that relate to the

farm animals and they have to identify which animal it was.

All children did a great job in answering the questions.

I hope all children manage to learn something new this time!

We will have more Q&A sessions next time!

Exploring our 5 Senses in April ~ (ORG)

This month we have an interesting theme,which is:

Our 5 Senses!

 

 We see with our eyes, we smell with our nose, we listen with our ear,

we touch with our hands and we taste with our tongue.

 

 All children listening to the story told by our Story teller, Thanks Claris.

 

 Our activity of the day is to test the children 5 senses.

This is the first one, Smelling. All children get to guess what they are smelling and describe it!

 



Next we are observing using the magnifying glass!

Now we use the ear to hear different sounds....

Then, we use our hands to feel and touch.

Guess what is inside!

Last but not least, we get to taste different taste.... yummy!

Well, she's holding a strawberry there!

 

Overall, we all had fun!



Easter Fun in March ~ (ORG)

After a long break from February, we are back again in March

for the Easter theme Reading Group session.

We start with reading a book to the children.

The title of the book is:

Strawberry Shortcake: Have a Sweet Easter, 2010

by Grosset & Dunlap Penguin Young Readers Group, New York.

Next activity is: Paint the egg!

We have all little ones explore with different colours and patterns.

Here you can see the little bunnies that the children bring and their painted eggs.

 

Oh we also did have some cut and paste fun for the children to

Trace, Cut, Colour and paste.

Here are the paper bunnies that they make!

 

Ooooo, we also have a surprise birthday party

for the child whose birthday falls on March!

The birthday girl's mommy brought in the cake and

all children have fun celebrating!

Seems like it is a snow white theme!

So you know who's the birthday girl?

 

So lastly, all enjoy the cake and the lovely party packs!
